  • Car Maintenance

    This subject teaches you how to wash, clean, maintain and detail cars. You will have the opportunity to practice your skills in a hands-on way by using real cars and products. this will help you to improve your opportunities for employment in this field.

  • Communication

This subject helps to improve communication skills that are used at work, on the telephone, in social settings and dealing with customers. The subject offers both theory and practical activities which include: speeches, communication games, role plays, pair and group work, using phones etc.

  • Computers

    Computer courses are often run through our Training College and can be completed at your own pace. Some of the courses offered are: typing and business and resume-writing. Computers are also used during workshops to improved client's computer skills, create resumes, cover letters and job searching activities.

  • Hospitality

    Hospitality StudentsHospitality is a subject that helps clients develop their skills for the Hospitality Industry. Activities are both theory and practical. Some examples included: Customer Service, Cleaning, Food Preparation and other job related skills.

  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)

    OHS helps to develop client's skills in identifying and preventing risks and hazards in the workplace. This subject introduces clients to workplace procedures and safety.

  • Practical Day

    Work SkillsOur Practical Day is a day that encourages a hands-on approach to all activities relating to clients' areas of interest and career goals. Activities include: gardening, cooking, cleaning, ironing, washing, car maintenance, manual handling, map reading, telephone communication, work skills, creative and building skills, workplace visits, computers, hospitality, retail etc.

  • Retail

    Retail WorkerRetail is a subject that helps clients develop their skills for the Retail industry. Activities are both theory and practical. Some examples include: customer service, cleaning, manual handling, cash register skills, and other related job skills.

  • Work Skills

    Once a week, clients are encouraged to dress in a manner that is appropriate for work and to participate in a day devoted to work skills training. Work skills is a subject that caters for all skills that are required in the workplace. These activities include: resume writing, interview skills, workplace behaviour, cover letters, application forms, job searching, customer service, safety and workplace interaction.

Clients are encouraged to search for jobs in a variety of ways. These could include looking in the local papers or various internet sites.

Employability Skills

  • Drivers Licence

    Driver's Licence is a subject that is run for clients who are interested in obtaining their Learner's Permit (Driver's Licence). Activities vary from online tests, interactive DVD quiz, visits to the RTA and practicing questions in different ways.

  • First Aid

    First Aid is a subject that is run for clients who are interested in obtaining their Senior First Aid certificate. First Aid skills are often useful when applying for jobs and in the workplace. Members of staff also accompany clients on the day of their practical test to provide support.

  • Organisation

    This subject encourages clients to develop their time-management and organisational skills. Activities include: timetables, filling out forms, planning and ordering.

  • Problem Solving and Team Building

    Students Rock ClimbingThis subject helps clients to develop their decision making and problem solving skills and encourages them to work in teams to achieve goals. This subject is mostly practical and often involves outdoor activities.

  • Time

    Time workshops are catered for the individual needs of clients and aim to improve skill such as: reading timetables, telling the time, organisational skills, time-management, rosters and schedules.

Independent Living Skills

  • Budgeting and Money Skills

    Budgeting and money skills workshops are used to build your skills in money handling, counting change, math skills, using a cash register and calculator. It also helps to build skills in creating and maintaining a budget, learning how to save money and use banks and pay bills.

  • Cooking

    Student cookingCooking classes are run once a week in our well equipped on site kitchen to teach clients cooking skills that can be used at home or in the hospitality industry. Clients have the opportunity to practice various cooking methods and dishes. They get to sample the meals that they cook, for example: hamburgers, wraps, Caesar salad, steak and vegetables, pasta dishes etc.

  • Living Skills

    Living skills is a subject that helps to develop clients' skills relating to everyday life such as: living out of home, house-keeping, paying bills, shopping, renting etc.

  • Travel Training

    One-on-one training is provided by staff for clients who require assistance with using public transport. The program works towards developing clients' independence and confidence in catching buses, trains etc. Travel training is also practiced on Sport and Recreation days and when attending the gym.

Personal Development

  • Gym

    Clients who are interested in participating in sport and recreation activities attend the local gym once a week. While they are their clients are supported by staff and encouraged to follow a fitness program that includes cardio, weights and team sports.

  • Healthy Living

    Healthy living is a subject that includes activities on nutrition, fitness, hygiene and promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

  • Personal Development

    Personal development workshops encourage clients to improve their understanding of self, self-esteem, setting and achieving goals, confidence, relationships and physical and emotional health.

  • Social Skills

    Social skills workshops encourage clients to develop appropriate behaviour and social interaction that are suitable for different settings. Some activities include: role plays, scenarios, decision making, relationships, manners and communication.

  • Well Being

    Well being is a subject that encourages clients' mental, physical, social, spiritual and emotional well being. This subject aims to develop stress management strategies and techniques that clients can use at home or the workplace. Activities include: Art and craft, meditation, independent goals, computers, stress tips, music and reading.

Literacy and Numeracy

Once a week clients have the opportunity to develop their numeracy and literacy skills with a fully trained on site teacher in a one-on-one setting.

Sport and Recreation

Our Sport and Recreation day occurs every Friday and gives clients the opportunity to catch public transport, participate in group activities and improve their social skills. Some of the days include: The Australian Reptile Park, indoor sports, movies, water sports, ice-skating, IMAX, Sydney Aquarium, beach activities etc.
